The victim suffered numerous deep cuts and welts on her arms and back from the beating, according to court records.
Scarbrough became upset Thursday when he discovered his daughter had eaten all the ice cream in their home on the 8000 block of South Loomis Boulevard in the Greshman neighborhood, according to Kent.
The couple then made plans to beat the girl with an extension cord when she got home from school that afternoon, Kent said.
At about 8 p.m. that night, Scarbrough and Alston entered the girl's room, Kent said.
Alston held the girl down while Scarbrough struck her about 12 times with the cord, according to Kent.
Officials at the girl's school noticed her wounds Friday and she was taken to a hospital, according to court records.
The victim told police her father had punched her in the eye earlier this month, according to court records.
Scarbrough and Alston admitted to striking the girl with the extension cord, according to Kent.
"Yea I beat that lil (expletive) with a ironing cord," Scarbrough reportedly told police when he was arrested Friday, court records state. "She stole from me."
