A 22-year-old Markham man was pronounced dead this morning after being shot in south suburban Harvey, officials said.
Darius Shelton, of the 3300 block of Willow Lane in Markham, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 7:56 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
At about 10:45 p.m. on Friday, Harvey police responded to a call of shots being fired at the intersection of 152nd and Paulina Streets in Harvey, said Harvey spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado.
When police arrived they found the victim shot. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, Alvarado said.
Investigators are interviewing eyewitnesses and following leads, Alvarado said.
